Was there ever a time….
It was near Tyler Texas. This was 1995, I was down in Tyler, Texas with my brother-in-law, he was moving down there and I help him move there. We went out to eat that night and he was driving and my nefew was riding in the front seat. My wife's sister and me were in the back seat. After dinner we took my nefew home and I got in the front seat 'cause there was more room. We pulled out of his driveway and went about 2 blocks to a traffic light, and some drunk driver hit us in the rear killed my wife's sister instantly. My brother-in-law he lived about seven days and then he died. I was in the hospital for about 9 or 10 days I think. I got out of it in pretty good shape.
They had a trial down there in Tyler Texas. I had to go down there, I was the number 1 witness, of course, I was in the car. But I don't remember anything outside of the fact that we tried to tell the jury that we were not backup up when he hit us, we were not moving. Because he tried to tell the court that we were backing up. From then on I was out.
He was driving a big heavy station wagon and hit us in the back. My brother in law has a big motor home, and had a small car so when he went camping somewhere he had something to drive. It was a small Honda. Just my sister in law, my brother in law and me were in the car.
I always knew I was going to make it alright. I had to stay down in Texas 'till the doctor released me. I saw doctors in Fort Wayne, Indiana after it happened.
